Late June / Early July — Port Darlington — Lake Ontario

The king salmon on their migration arrive to the warm water outflow of Darlington Generation Station.  King salmon are in shallow water (100’ or less) and are plentiful. Sizes range from 8 lbs to over 30lbs.

 

Port Darlington located several miles east of the plant is a hot spot due to the Niagara River current moving the warm outflow water easterly and local bottom structure that holds the kings. The action is fast and furious for kings that can range over 30lbs of pure power!

 

We concentrate our fishing efforts in this area until the kings move further west. If the Kings are off feed , Steelhead are just a few miles offshore and are virtually un-fished.
